Adam Equipment Washdown & Waterproof Scales for the Food Industry
Our durable washdown and waterproof food scales have an IP rating that enables them to be easily washed down or used in damp or wet conditions and environments.
All digital weighing scales can be cleaned, but in the majority of cases great care is required as water and electricity can interfere with electrical components. Whilst washdown scales implies that these can be washed without any lasting damage, it is ill advised to spray with a high pressure hose or submerge in the sink and wash it up with the usual utensils. Our IWS waterproof scale is constructed from durable, IP68 rated stainless steel with full waterproof sealing, for total water and splash-proof protection against liquids and chemicals.
Washdown scales, like the IWS, are particularly useful as food weighing scales in catering and food processing as they are usually constructed of stainless steel which is both durable and easy to clean.
There are some digital washdown scales with an IP69K rating which means it can be washed with a hose, but we recommend if you are not sure ask us, we will be happy to help and advise you on your washdown scale.

Q: Which washdown scale would you recommend for food industry use?
A: This depends on the particular industry as well as how the washdown scale is intended to be used. Retail or shop scales such as the WBZ Washdown Retail Scale are perfectly suited for food weighing applications and come complete with digital weighing and price computing capabilities. Additionally, the WBZ Washdown Retail Scale comes equipped with an easy to use interface that features a sealed keypad for easy cleaning, providing the ideal food weighing scale.
Q: What do IP ratings mean?
A: IP ratings are a grading system used to determine the level of dust and water protection a scale or balance offers. The rating system works in ascending order with 1 representing low protection or vulnerable to dust and water, and 8 the highest level of protection meaning that the device is dustproof or waterproof. For example, our IWS waterproof scales offer IP68 protection which works out to a level 6 in dust protection and a level 8 in water protection, meaning that this scale offers the best level of water protection currently available.
