Buy butcher scales from Inscale Scales

Inscale stocks a variety of digital food scales perfect for weighing meat products in butcher’s shops.

Our range of butcher scales include durable, stainless steel top pans that can be easily cleaned after use. Some of our butcher and meat scales offer IP65 and 66 rated waterproof and dustproof housing, allowing them to be easily washed in order to maintain food health and hygiene standards.

All of the scales in this section are perfect for portion weighing, whilst most models offer smart, price-computing features for calculating price by weight.

Aside from butcher’s shops, the scales in this section are perfect for use in fishmongers for selling fish and shellfish, delicatessens for selling meat related products or within restaurant kitchens for preparing food servings. Restaurants, sandwich shops or delis may also use food scales if a product specifies portion size or calories in relation to weight on a menu or the weight of individual ingredients, e.g 300kcal per 100g serving.

We offer a variety of UK trade approved butcher scales for selling meat, fish and other food products by weight.

What are IP ratings?

An IP rating refers to a products capability of dealing with outside foreign bodies that may damage the machine. The first figure is marked from 0 – 6 and indicates the level of protection from outside interference, whether that be tools or dust. A 0 rating would mean no special protection at all, whilst a 6 would mean full air-tight protection from matter as small as dust. The second figure is marked from 0 – 8 and specifies the level of protection from moisture. Again, a rating of 0 would mean no protection, whilst an 8 would be completely sealed and capable of withstanding extended immersion under high pressures. For example, an IP65 would mean the product had complete protection from dust, but is only water tight from low pressure water jets.

Depending on your desired use for a product, it is important to note information such as the minimum IP rating is for outdoor use and so on. If you are unsure, please Get In Touch with us.

Do I need trade approved scales?

A: Whether or not you need trade approved scales depends entirely on whether the item you are selling is priced based on its weight. This can include scales that are found in fruit and veg shops, sweet shops, butchers and fishmongers. In many countries such as the UK, it is law to use a trade approved item if you operate under these circumstances. Tests on all trade approved scales are carried out by Notified Bodies, all of which adopt the same international standards to ensure consistency.
