Portable scales, this can be a slightly misleading section, portable can be used to describe scales that can be moved around. Well we use this term to describe scales that can be run on batteries. In theory all scales are portable, if you can pick it up and carry it then it is portable, but you may not have a mains socket where you need to use the scale, so a truly portable scale is battery powered.There are two forms of battery powered portable scales, ones that use standard dry-cell batteries and those that have internal rechargeable batteries.
Portable scales can be used as veterinary scales for weighing small animals, they tend to be damage resistant and promote convenience and ease of use.

A: The type of portable scale unit we can recommend to use as your veterinary scale will depend largely on your individual needs. All of our portable vet scales make use of battery power without the need for a mains supply. Compact scales are a good choice for weighing small animals that require a small pan size, whereas platform scales have an increased size potential which works well with larger animals.
Many of our digital weighing scales come complete with dynamic weighing functions which allow the accurate weighing of animals despite movement. The force exerted by the animal on the weighing pan is measured over a selected period of time in order to calculate a precise average weight overall.
