The Kern PLJ compact precision balances have an ergonomically optimised keypad for left and right handed users. The PLJ models have automatic internal calibration adjustment, ideal to ensure accurate weighing. Some models are dual ranged, letter D is used in the part code, the total weighing range is subdivided into 2 subranges and begins with a high resolution readout in the fine weighing range. If this range is exceeded the balance automatically switches to the higher weighing range with the lower resolution readout.

A compact design, practical for small spaces, the backlit LCD display is easy to read in most light conditions. The model has a level indicator with adjustable feet to precisely level the balance.

A draft shield with a removable metal cover and opening for pipettes is supplied on models with 0.001g resolution. The scale has an RS-232 digital output for connection to a printer making the unit GLP compliant.
