How to get the best out of your weighing scales?
Here are some hints and tips on how to get the best performance from your scales:
- It all starts with the identification of the right balance and scale for your application and needs. Inscale can advise you on the right scale, whether it be a Counting scale for your warehouse or an Analytical balance for your Quality Control Lab, we have the right product. Get free impartial professional advice and information on a wide range of product brands and manufacturers such Adam Equipment and Sartorius to ensure you have the right product from the start.
- When you get your product, make sure it is set up correctly, it seems simple but the number of complaints we get from customers who it turns out haven’t set up their new purchase properly is amazing! So, read the Installation section of the manual.
Make sure the scale or balance is leveled by the spirit level and adjustable feet. Many inferior products don’t have these features or the spirit level isn’t sensitive enough, however to get optimum performance any weighing system needs to be perfectly level.
- Take a look around where you want to use your new purchase. Are there any drafts or fans working that would affect the balance or scale when you turn it on? This can be an air-conditioning unit or the fan at the back of a machine? Is there any large motors or machinery that could cause vibration nearby? If so you may have to consider placing the product on Anti Vibration Table or using a cabinet.
- Take time to understand the functions of the product, often people don’t realize what quality balances and scales can offer these days, for instance most counting scales such as the Adam Equipment CBC series include an RS232 interface as standard, which would allow you record results or print a label, sometimes these additional features can add value to your operating processes.
- Make sure you calibrate and check your product regularly, purchase a calibration weight to check the calibration is held and correct, Inscale can supply weights for every scale it sells, however make sure that these are the correct value weight for the scale there are many different types and classes of calibration weights and their accuracy depends on which class you buy, we can provide the right weight for the right balance or scale.
- Finally, don’t forget that if you ever have any problems or are unsure of anything then we are only a phone call or email away so you contact us and we will try and help you initially by telephone advice but we also are able to carry out on site calibration and repairs throughout the country. If the product goes wrong or you want an annual calibration carried out without the cost of a call out charge visit then you can always return it to our service centre to carry out the work.
